Hello friends, my name is Melissa.

This past December, my fiancé Kyle and I decided to adopt our first dog together after I lost my two dogs the previous year and he lost his the year before that. We both sorely missed the companionship, so we reached out to a foster in upstate NY, and I traveled over 400 miles round trip to bring this special baby home.

Birdie just turned 1 and is a wonderful addition to our family. However, the unexpected just occurred yesterday that has Kyle and me heartbroken. She had an accident playing—no fault of anyone, just one of those things that happen for no reason—and had a severe fracture in her pelvis.

She is getting surgery, and I have pet insurance, but it's still going to leave me over $10,000 to pay off even after the insurance payout.

I've never done this before, but I have to request donations from anyone who is able to help us and Birdie in our time of need. I am getting the surgery for her; she's still so young and has her whole life ahead of her. I can't handle another loss right now. I need to do right by her, and if anyone out there is able to help us help Birdie, we would appreciate it more than I could even find the words to express.
