Birdie's Record-Breaking Hike to Protect Public Lands
Donation protected
I’m attempting to become the fastest woman to hike across Oregon on the Pacific Crest Trail — unsupported.
That means 457 miles alone — no crew, no resupply, no trail magic, no outside help. I’ll carry every ounce of food and gear from day one, facing the trail with nothing but my legs, my mind, and my will.
Why? Because public lands are under attack, and I refuse to silently watch them disappear.
Over 90% of the Pacific Crest Trail lies on U.S. public lands. The Pacific Crest Trail Association (PCTA) — the nonprofit that maintains and protects this trail — has already faced devastating funding cuts. New policy proposals now threaten access, protection, and long-term preservation.
There are more hikers than ever but fewer resources to support them. Blowdowns, fire damage, erosion, and access issues are piling up.
This hike isn’t just mine. It’s ours.
It’s for the wild places that raised us, the trails that shape us, and the right to walk them freely.
The PCT means so much to me and to so many others. It only feels right to use the platform I built thru-hiking the PCT to rally our community in protecting the trail for the next generation of hikers.
Your Donation Supports:
- Training, food, and gear for the unsupported Fastest Known Time (FKT) attempt
- Production costs to document and share this story
- After project costs, all additional proceeds will be donated directly to the PCTA
How You Can Help:
- Donate — every dollar makes an impact
