WHAT IS BIRDIE?

 

BIRDIE is a film written by Will Kindrachuk and Hayden Price. The story follows two roommates, Birdie and Jay, as they run to the pharmacy for a pregnancy test. However, on the way, they are met by unforeseen obstacles and dubious characters, forcing them to confront the transition from childhood to adulthood.

 

WHO ARE WE?

 

Oh No Ethel Productions is a Los Angeles-based production company started by Will Kindrachuk and Hayden Price. We are a group of young artists who have a passion for all aspects of filmmaking and celebrating the art of the moving image. We are focused on telling stories about our current experiences in a world we are still trying to understand.

 

This is a group of collaborators whose previous credits include Will’s two short films, “Feeling No Pain” and “Short Form,” Maddy Murden’s “Pink Elephant” and “Harvey and Sunshine,” and Jon Beyer’s “Bearing Witness” and “Full Ashtray.” Although this team has worked together in many different capacities, BIRDIE offers a new challenge for us as it is feature-length.

 

Because we are young artists, we offer a refreshing perspective on the world, especially issues that have become more relevant during our lifetime. Together, we aim to use our ideas and voices to discuss topics that are foundational to our existence and beliefs.

 

THE IMPACT

 

By donating, you will be an active participant in supporting the education of young filmmakers. It is important that we learn through action outside of the classroom, and creating our own film is essential in teaching us about all aspects of the business. This includes pre-production, production, and post-production as well as a festival run. Students will lead all departments of this process, including the business side (crowdfunding, budgeting, event planning, scheduling) as well as the creative side (writing, directing, acting, composing, editing, graphic design).

 

Because we are emerging artists coming from different backgrounds, we are determined to make space in this industry for ourselves. We are cultivating our own creative platforms and outlets so that we can have all of our voices heard and all of our talents showcased.
