Bird Needs a New Smile

Meet Bird! Bird is roughly 8 years old, spayed, FIV/FeLV negative, and has three meows - two of which sound like birds. She was dumped in my yard in March and she needs a home.

What we (myself and fellow cat ladies) think happened is that she had an older owner who passed and her family, instead of taking her in or trying to find her a new home, left her to to fend for herself. She screamed in the bushes across from my backyard for a week (which sounded like a distressed seagull) before coming to my porch where she now lives.

This sweet girl knows what a brush is and absolutely loves it - she'll even offer up her belly to be brushed and won't so much as lift a paw to stop you, purring the entire time. She follows me around my yard and comes when called. She's warmed up to my dog and most of the other strays I care for. She's a lovely porch cat.

But Bird cannot continue to live on my porch.

While she has claws, her teeth are, according to the vet, "trash".

After being evaluated at the Humane Society of Greater Dayton, it was determined that she only has one good tooth. The others are either gone or need to be pulled.

The Humane Society has quoted me $1,234 on the high end for the procedure. While that's cheaper than I expected, I still cannot afford it; she likely will not find the loving home she deserves without having her teeth fixed.

Thankfully, the Humane Society has also offered to take her on after the procedure, to help her recover and find her a home, but first, I have to cover the cost.

So I'm asking for help. Bird deserves better than what she currently has. She deserves a safe, loving home, without the pain her mouth is causing her. Can you help me make that happen?
