Thirteen years ago, I crossed paths with someone that profoundly changed the course of my life. Her dedication and vision of education inspired me to become a teacher, and move to Indonesia.

That person is Susan Setiawan, founder of Bintang Timur School in Bali.

Since 2014, she has grown the school to nearly 200 students from kindergarten, through primary.

Located in Nusa Dua, the school serves families who often cannot access public education due to residency restrictions, making it an essential part of the community.

As the number of students grows each year, the need for additional space is increasing. Today, the school faces a practical challenge: it is beginning to run out of classrooms. Existing classes are becoming more crowded, and without expansion, the school may have to limit new enrollments.

We are raising funds to build new classrooms. Although the school receives some government support, it is occasional and limited, and does not cover infrastructure development.

The project aims to help complete the construction of three new classrooms. Construction has already begun but had to be stopped due to a lack of funds.

We have two months to raise a total of 159,044,000 Indonesian rupiah (approximately €8,000) to finish the project in time for the new school year in July 2026.
