For the past two years, my high school son and I have volunteered through Young Men’s Service League at a senior community playing bingo. It’s joyful. It’s loud. It’s fun.

And it’s also heartbreaking.

I’ve watched seniors stare at their cards, unable to find the number that was just called.

I’ve seen them forget which numbers were already announced.

Stories repeat.

Names slip away.

Memory is precious — and when it starts to fade, it changes everything.

Alzheimer’s doesn’t just affect “other families.” It affects all of us — our parents, our grandparents… and one day, potentially us.

They fund groundbreaking science — from early biomarkers and diagnostic tools to treatment and prevention research — and support caregivers and patients with education, programs, and a 24/7 helpline.
