Baja Senior Project

“The goal of our Mini-Baja Team is to design, fabricate, and test a durable off-road vehicle to excel at the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) international Mini-Baja competition.”

This year the team is designing and building our school's first-ever 4WD Mini-Baja. This year’s team has been engineering and designing our car since August, and we have a lot of potential to build a competitive vehicle for this year’s SAE competition.

We design and build a large portion of components custom for our vehicle. This means that we must buy the raw materials machine the parts ourselves. Sometimes, if they are too complex, we send them to professionals to manufacture, which can be very expensive. Also, there are many standard parts that we will be using, such as shocks, and tires, that we must purchase.

Unlike other competing schools who have budgets in the tens of thousands of dollars, our team was allocated $2,000 to fabricate our vehicle. The steel for the bare frame will cost close to $2,000 alone, leaving nearly nothing for the rest of the vehicle. We are hoping to raise at $10,000 in order to build the best vehicle that we can.
