We are Binghamton University’s Mock Trial Competition Team, made up of a group of motivated Binghamton undergraduate students who compete as part of AMTA (American Mock Trial Association). As part of this organization, we prepare an entire case, act as attorneys and witnesses, and compete against highly ranked college mock trial programs across the country.
As for Bing Mock Trial, for the past 7 years, our A team has advanced to the Open Round Championship Series (ORCS), and for the first time last year, our B team did as well. Both teams are ranked and recognized out of about 700 teams nationwide. During the competition season, we practice upwards of 3 times a week and dedicate a big portion of our time to perfecting our content and presentation.
Unfortunately, a lot of the expenses that come along with this program are not always fully covered by the funding we receive from Binghamton University. We have to pay steep fees for every tournament we wish to attend and for the creation of demonstrative aids that we use during trial. However, the bulk of our expenses come from traveling fees. Given the fact that we have to travel to every tournament, we have to cover the cost of hotels, flights, rental cars and other forms of transportation for all members of the team, which really add up. We are requesting some help to fund our club so that we will be able to attend the tournaments we worked very hard to get to.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this. On behalf of Binghamton University Mock Trial, we all appreciate any help we can get, whether that involves donating or sharing this page.
