BILLY'S SHATTERED HIP SOCKET

William "Billy" Cooper was riding his motorcycle to work as a loss prevention security officer for the Target Distribution Center 30 miles from his home in Lenoir, North Carolina, on the morning of September 16, 2022. As Billy rode along NC Highway 10, suddenly, and without warning, a car pulled out right in front of Billy from a side road. It happened in a split second, and it was impossible for Billy to stop, although he tried. Billy's motorcycle struck the side of the car. He was flung forward off his motorcycle, and was badly injured. Billy's left hip socket was shattered, and his right wrist was broken. His head hit the car and he suffered head injuries, despite wearing a helmet. Billy's jaw was broken in 3 places. But for the grace of God, Billy would have died on the spot. Greetings. My name is Don Doering, and I am trying to raise money to help my cousin, Billy Cooper, who is in pain and still suffering from this accident. Billy is a husband, father, and former volunteer firefighter and rescue tech. PLEASE help my cousin Billy with whatever amount you can give. Every gift is appreciated. I will not receive one penny. Billy's Harley Electra Glide Ultra Firefighter Special Edition Motorcycle was totalled in the accident. Billy was rushed by ambulance to the emergency room at Catawba Valley Hospital in critical condition, where his terrible injuries were initially treated. They then transferred Billly to the University of North Carolina Carolinas Trauma Center in Charlotte, North Carolina, where the doctors performed an 11 and 1/2 hour invasive surgery to repair Billy's shattered hip socket. They had to install 13 steel screws and 2 metal rods in his hip. Billy spent two weeks in the UNC Trauma Center. He had to pay a large deductible toward over $250,000.00 in medical bills. Billy really needs your help. He is still in a great deal of pain, and has undergone extensive physical therepy just to walk again. He still receives physical therapy. Billy also receives cognitive and speech therapy due to his head injuries and broken jaw. Billy is still not working full-time, and is struggling to make ends meet. He cannot pay all of his bills, and had to re-finance his truck in order to lower the payments, or he would have lost his truck. Billy and his wife, Tina, have emptied their savings account to survive. Billy may need hip replacement surgery in the future, and he cannot afford that. To make matters worse, Billy's and Tina's house got flooded just before the accident and the floors were ruined. They are walking around on the sub-floors because they cannot afford to repair the floors, and Billy can no longer do the repairs himself. Billy is a good American guy. He and his wife are Christians, and attend the Lakeview Baptist Church in Lenoir, NC . Billy was a Corrections Officer for the State of North Carolina Department of Corrections, and spent most of his younger years as a correctional officer, a volunteer firefighter, and a resue tech. He is a NASCAR fan. Billy is a menber of the Sentry Riders Motorcycle group, made up mostly of veterans, and he is associated with many other veterans's support groups in North Carolina and accross the country.
