I have known Billy Norris for over 20 years. Billy has always been one of the hardest working people I have ever known. He has been at his current job for 20 years. He works hard while raising 3 daughters and taking care of his wife. He has given help when and where he could. Unfortunately, it is his turn for help now.
On July 26, 2016, Billy underwent surgery to remove the left lymph node in his neck. The node was swelling and causing him much pain. On August 3, 2016, Billy and his family received the news that would change their lives forever. The lymph node tested positive for Squamous Cell Carcinoma. SCC is a disease in which cancer cells spread to lymph nodes in the neck and it is not known where the cancer first formed in the body. When scc spreads to lymph nodes in the neck or around the collarbone, it is called metastatic squamous neck cancer. The doctor will try to find the primary tumor (the cancer that first formed in the body), because treatment for metastatic cancer is the same as treatment for the primary tumor. For example, when lung cancer spreads to the neck, the cancer cells in the neck are lung cancer cells and they are treated the same as the cancer in the lung. Sometimes doctors cannot find where in the body the cancer first began to grow. When tests cannot find a primary tumor, it is called an occult (hidden) primary tumor. In many cases, the primary tumor is never found. On Wednesday August 10th, Billy and his family will return to the doctor to formulate a long-term plan and they will try to locate the source of the cancer.
For 20 years Billy has worked for Trinity Ind. He does have an insurance plan, but this plan will only cover a small amount of what is going to be required as his treatment progresses. He and his wife have missed several weeks of work at this point and anticipate many more missed days as time goes on. Your contributions will help pay for travel back and forth to Houston, basic living expenses, and treatment expenses. When someone has cancer, the whole family and everyone who loves them does too.
