On Sunday night my beautiful boy Billy was rushed to SASH Tuggerah for emergency surgery due to a possible obstruction in his intestines causing them to twist and fold on each other. He underwent a 3 hour major surgery which resulted in no definitive answer as to what was happening.
20 hours after the above major surgery Billy underwent a spinal tap procedure which successfully seen a diagnosis of Steroid responsive meningitis-arteritis. This diagnosis in itself comes with 4 months of treatment and extensive vet bills.
Billy is not like any other dog, he is my companion. This little one has gotten me through my darkest of days with recent family losses. The grief and heartache that comes with losing a loved one has been something Billy has helped heal. He loves unconditionally and without fail puts a smile on my face. They say dogs are just animals, not Billy- he is family!
I am not one to ask for help, but to give Billy the best outlook I am setting aside my pride in the hope Billy can get better and live a long healthy life with me. Financially I am unable to cover the costs myself and family losses have put financial pressure on the family meaning they are unable to help.
Billy's final vet bill will be between $15,000 to $18,000. A breakdown of costs- $2,400 for one night of overnight care, $10,000 for X-rays and Ultrasounds at Cessnock for exploration surgery of suspected obstruction, $2,000 call out fee for the surgeon to attend on Sunday night, $2,000 for spinal tap to get Billy’s diagnosis and a further $2,000-$4,000 for ongoing treatment of his condition.
I am extremely grateful for any donations to help get Billy back to his playful, healthy self.
