Our beloved friend and community member, Billy Broadway, passed away a few days ago, and we’re asking for the community’s help to give him a proper cremation, burial, and funeral service.
Billy was known as this town's "waving man" and it was a name he took pride in. Nearly every day Billy would sit outside of the Sonic on Military Rd and wave at those that passed by. He loved calling Benton home and he LOVED waving at people to put a smile on their face.
Over the previous years Billy unfortunately became homeless. After meeting his shining personality in the warming shelter this January, we made a decision that we couldn't allow him to go back to a shack to sleep. We rallied the community together and got him a room at a local hotel for nearly 4 months until we were luckily able to find him a home. Billy took absolute pride in his new home. He never missed a day of work at Taco Bell, he mowed yards on the side, and he always took time out of his day to wave and smile at people. Billy finally had his version of everything until he suddenly passed away. This was something no one prepared for or expected.
We appreciate any help with getting Billy cremated along with burial and funeral arrangements. Any extra funds will be donated directly to organizations that took the time to help Billy this past year.
Billy brought this community together in many ways, I hope that we can come together to do the same for him.
We are currently waiting to raise funds for cremation and then we will plan for the funeral. We are hopeful to have a candlelight in the upcoming weeks.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and support one of the communities favorite guys.
