William Earl Shewman III, (Bill) passed away peacefully at home on January 26th, 2015 after a long battle with cancer.

Bill loved his family and was very proud of his 8 children. He radiated a powerful presence and those who made it past his tough exterior found a deeply caring and sensitive heart. Assigning nicknames was his way of expressing fondness for those around him.

Bill loved children. As a basketball coach and mentor, he believed in the importance of building confidence and character through sports. Through fairness, fun, and teamwork, he motivated his players to succeed.

In lieu of flowers or a formal memorial service, the family requests donations to the Bill Shewman YMCA Scholarship Fund, which will provide scholarships to kids in need to partipicate in YMCA sports programs.
