Hello, friends, strangers and kind souls:
My name is David Jones, and I’m humbly reaching out for help.
Life has thrown a series of challenges my way, and I find myself in a position I never imagined.
Over the past few years, I’ve experienced:
- The journey of eldercare, including leave from work for this
- Endured the loss of my beloved mother
- Moved several times
- Faced my own health challenges and various matters which were a struggle for years. I have paid for and sought solid sources of licensed, medical help. While some things are much better, l still have challenges with a few ongoing health issues.
- In 2021, I went to Amen Clinics and had a SPECT brain scan which showed evidence of TBI (traumatic brain injury) from a few incidents I in my life, indicating challenges with things like adult ADHD, OCD, higher reactivity, frustration and anxiety in decision making than healthier brains. Neurologically, I have a brain with a shorter fuse. At times, I’ve done well and been very focused, at other times not so much. I started with a recommended series of HBOT (hyperbaric oxygen treatments) and other therapies, and would hope to be able to continue with this in the future when I can afford it. Related to this, I learned that some of my moods and reactions, including occasional unexpected anger have neurological basis per the consultation with my doctor. For anyone who has experienced me this way, I am sorry. I’ve often tried to apologize and want to reemphasize I’m sorry you had to be on the other end of this. Maybe you’ve read of TBI in football players and unexpected mood and anger changes in them.
- Over a year ago, I also loss my job of 2 years. I’ve worked in IT and there have been many layoffs, along with a continuous need for maintaining updated skills.
- I’ve also been applying to any time of job I can work such as retail, grocery, customer service, and admin/office jobs.
- Despite my best efforts, I have yet to secure employment that can provide a living wage. The reality of this situation has hit hard, and I’ve exhausted all of my savings, limited unemployment for several months, maxed out the single credit card I never used, etc.
I have had to get rid almost everything I owned, and have stayed in motel rooms and Airbnb rooms and changed locations (including scouting out states other than California) to try to save costs. This isn’t a normal way to live and has made things like focusing on finding work hard. Some weeks I sleep very poorly and run low on energy. I'm writing from Texas having come here in the hopes of landing a job in the economy here.
My faith in God remains unshaken, and it’s a source of hope and strength that keeps me going. Gratefully, some friends, family, churches and government assistance has helped at times.
Asking for help is not easy—it’s a path filled with vulnerability. But I trust in the Lord’s provision and the compassion of people like you.
I’m reaching out to ask if you could lend a hand in any way:
- Financial support. I am not able to meet this month’s bills including my phone service
- Help sourcing a stable place to stay for a period (1 month) such as an Airbnb room in a specific location
- Be able to keep my vehicle of 10 years with over 160K miles for practical purposes of living
Any contribution, no matter the size, will make a significant difference in my life. It will bridge the gap as I tirelessly seek employment and work towards stability.

While my faith at times seems small, God has seen me through quite a bit in life, including my own failures, choices and various losses and circumstances beyond my control.
Thank you for your friendship, grace and patience towards me. I’ve tried to be decent towards others in various way: serve, give, help, forgive, see where I need to change, and make up for things when I’ve been able to.
P.S. I am also open to work leads for software development (.NET / C# / SQL / Azure / AWS), database work, QA, project management, and any roles for other skills I used before such as customer service, administrative/office skills, technical support, writing and research (including AI prompting).
