For Mr. Dog (a.k.a Pup), from Leslie Barcus

The stray German shepherd mix found roaming in the Palisades is coming along quite well since his rescue one week ago! He has quickly gone from an exhausted and hungry pup to an energetic, happy fellow who is figuring out life and gaining in his confidence. Sadly, no owner has come forward up to now despite broad outreach to many community listservs, the HumaneRescue Alliance and other rescue agencies. It may take some time yet for this pup to land his forever home, but all the necessary steps are being taken to get him on the right pathway to a successful adoption. We’ve begun needed vet care and are putting the right toys in front of him to match his youthful energy. Treats definitely capture his attention and are useful for advancing his training.

The community response to this pup has been nothing short of amazing, overwhelming and heartwarming and I feel fortunate to get to know so many wonderful people in the Palisades and across D.C., Maryland and Virginia! Many people have expressed their willingness to join together and help fund his pre-adoption costs. This Go Fund Me should cover his initial costs for vet care and the ongoing costs of his food, treats, toys and chews.
