A little over a month ago, Bill Przylucki suffered a stroke – actually, doctors believe he may have had multiple strokes. Bill was hospitalized at St. Peter's for approximately a week and then spent close to a month at Sunnyview Rehabilitation Hospital. Initially, Bill suffered from unstoppable hiccups, loss of balance, double-vision, neuropathy, inability to control his right leg as well as other difficulties on his right side.
Bill worked extremely hard at Sunnyview and made great progress. Many of his symptoms improved because of his hard work and good medical services. Bill now uses a wheel chair and walker to get around and will continue to get physical therapy. His double-vision, a nusance for sure, is helped by wearing an eye patch. His hiccups are not as much of an issue, as they are being controlled, for the most part with medication.
Not surprisingly, Bill has MANY close friends and family members that love him and have wholly supported him through this difficult journey. Bill is always the first person to jump in to assist anyone in need. In very “Bill” fashion, within two days of his stay at Sunnyview he was thinking of ways to repay them when he recovers, and even counseled a few people during his stay that were struggling with their disabilities. Now we have the opportunity to help Bill, who has helped so many!
Upon his discharge from Sunnyview, Bill accepted the invitation of his good friend, John Coppola, to stay at his house in an apartment where Bill will have a full-time aide to assist him with daily activities and ensure his safety. So many people have asked what they can do to help Bill on the long road ahead of him.
A number of people recommended creating a fund to help Bill address the financial challenges resultung from his medical needs. Bill really appreciated our offer of financial support, after some persuasion, and gave us permission to launch a GoFundMe page for him. Funds raised through this site will be available to him as he needs them.
Some of the new expenses he will face are paying for an aide, special equipment and home modifications, medication, maintenance of his current home and others. So many people have supported Bill throughout this challenging time. So many others want to help. It is an amazing community of love and concern that we all make up as we seek ways to help Bill. Thank you for being a part of it.
We will continue to provide updates on Bill’s progress through this site. Thank you so much for your support!
