Hey everyone.

I am writing this with an unbelievable heavy heart. Last night Billie was acting strange, and I knew something was off. When we woke up this morning, she wasn’t looking well whatsoever. I couldn’t for the life of me figure out what was going on with her. My gut was telling me that something was seriously wrong. She wasn’t walking, wouldn’t eat her favorite treats. It was all so strange. I drove her over the hill to the emergency vet, where she ended up getting admitted. A whole slew of tests were performed, and unfortunately, more will be done tomorrow.

We wish we knew what was wrong, but we don’t. The only things that we know are that she has a abnormally high fever, is very lethargic/and breathing very fast, and her white blood cell count is wildly low.

I am praying that we can soon find out the root of the issue. I know and assume that you all are very well aware that emergencies like this can be very expensive. I braced myself for looking at the low estimate, but was shocked at the dollar amount I was presented with.

I thankfully have had insurance for Billie since she was a year old, but that only helps with the cost a little. I fear the worst in this situation. I fear that her low white blood cell count could potentially be caused by something more serious.

So far, the vet bill is at $3k, and I believe it will go up tomorrow after more tests (ultrasound) are performed.

Billie is truly my better half and the light of my life. I would do absolutely anything for her. She has only ever brightened my day, and hundreds of others in the last five years - saying hi to humans is her favorite thing besides eating food.

I am not expecting much, really - I feel very vulnerable asking for any help at all. But here I am, asking for help.

Any funds that aren’t used towards Billies vet bill will be donated to the local animal shelter.
