Most people celebrate the holidays by looking forward to a New Year. But this year, one of the kindest men in our community spent the holidays fighting for his life. Bill Brown of B Squared Photography in Las Vegas, NV, went into the hospital on December 29th, 2015. He had to have emergency surgery to relieve the pressure on his brain, and has been in the ICU on a ventilator/breathing machine ever since.
Obviously, this is taking a huge financial toll on Bill and his wife, Lisa. Just one of Bill's medications is over $900 a bottle. He is still in the hospital, so we can only imagine how high the hospital bills will be.
We are asking for any donation you can make. Every dollar helps. And if you cannot donate, could you please share this on social media? All money raised goes directly to Bill & Lisa to use to help offset Bill's medical costs(minus gofundme's fees).
Also, if you have had your photograph taken by Bill, please make it your profile pic on Facebook and tag him. It doesn't sound like much, but these little things are giving him hope and showing him that the community cares for him and is pulling for him to get better and get through this!
Who is Bill Brown? If you have been to a renn faire, comic convention, sci-fi convention, Pirate Fest, Scottish Highland Games, or basically ANY event in the Las Vegas area, chances are you have seen Bill out photographing the cosplayers, performers, and patrons of the event. He does this for free, just because it is his hobby & he loves to share his pictures with the world! He is always sweet and kind to everyone. Bill is married to his wife, Lisa, and together they have lived in the Las Vegas valley for many years.
UPDATES FROM LISA ON BILL'S CONDITION:
12/29: Bill is out of surgery and in ICU. Thank you for all the messages of suppport and please keep us in your thoughts.
12/30: He is still in ICU after surgery yesterday. He opened his eyes and has been responsive to the nurses. He is currently on the lovely breathing machine and is basically BORG for the time being. Your continued thoughts and prayers are deeply appreciated Thank you.
12/31: Bill is stable, but still in critical condition in ICU.
He is responding to commands, and has brief periods of lucidity. He is still on the ventilator, so they keep him very sedated. Thank you, all of you, who have offered support, and to the cosplay community who has humbled us by you outpouring of love. Bill will be deeply flattered by all of this, and I will show him all your posts when he is awake. Thank you all so much, and please continue to keep him in your thoughts. Please have a happy and safe New Year.
1/1/16: He's doing well. He responded to me by nodding his head and squeezing my hand. To catch everyone up, he had a stroke last Sunday night, and was rushed to surgery to relieve pressure on his brain. The doctors are going to begin the process of weaning him off the ventilator starting tomorrow. We hope he will be out of ICU early this week. Thank you for your continued thoughts and prayers, Bill and I appreciate it.
