Bill Wing’s fight against ALS

As some of you know, our dad Bill Wing, was recently diagnosed with ALS - bulbar onset. ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease is a very rare progressive disease with no cure that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord and is ultimately terminal. Living with ALS makes even the simplest tasks such as walking, talking and eating very difficult as it progresses. Bill has bulbar onset which means his symptoms started with difficulty speaking and extreme upper extremity weakness.

As most of you know, Bill has been the business owner of Wing’s Cleaning Co. his whole life. His job gave him great joy and he loved helping his costumers. He took great pride in the work he did. Unfortunately, he can no longer work and he does not qualify for disability. This is a huge stressor that should not be felt on top of a diagnosis of ALS.

This diagnosis came as a complete and utter shock to us, family and friends. We have started this GoFundMe to help support both our dad and mom, Sue. ALS requires a lot of adaptations to every day life including the use ramps, specialty beds, equipment and renovations to our parents home. All donations will go directly to my parents to cover medical expenses, renovations, and whatever else is needed to make sure Bill lives the rest of his life safely, comfortably and happily.

Bill is a loving husband to his wife Sue for over 32 years and an awesome dad to his daughters Amanda and Maegan. He has been a great big brother to his sisters Brenda and Sharon and a wonderful friend to everyone he knows. Bill has always been the life of the party and loved being with people. We all have such great memories of the large 4th of July parties in the backyard and celebrations of numerous milestones for us.
