Bill Sutton Stroke Recovery
Donation protected
On Friday august 16 my mom found my dad semi conscious at home. She called 911 and he was rushed to the hospital. After dozens of tests, it was determined that he had an infection on his heart valve that was spreading through his body. This infection caused him to have strokes in his mid brain. For the next five weeks my mom spent every night in the ICU, patiently holding his hand and sleeping by his side.
One night at 4am, he woke up. Unable to speak or walk but he was there. Smiling at jokes, recognizing friends and family that visited. It was honestly, amazing!
From there he spent several weeks at Marian Joy learning how to walk, eat, swallow, use his hands, everything.
This week, the week of my parents 32nd wedding anniversary, my dad was released from the hospital.
He is still recovering, going to physical therapy and countless doctor visits. But we are so incredibly thankful to have him here with us and to have him home.
I am trying to raise money to help support my parents during my dads recovery. Please, if you are able to contribute even the smallest donation means everything to us.
A very special thank you to the wonderful staff at Elmhurst Hospital for getting us through the scariest moments of our lives. And to the staff at Marian Joy who helped put the pieces of my father back together. And of course to all of our fantastic family and friends who we could, quite literally, do none of this without.
