Bill Stegman Christmas Motorcycle Accident

Donation protected
Christmas is such a magical time of year when you are a child, never realizing all those involved that make that magic come alive.  Bill Stegman, is one of those people that help to make this season a magical time.  He involves himself in the community and, it just so happens that after playing Santa at a children’s party this Christmas Eve, while riding home, he was involved in a motorcycle accident.  Since early Christmas morning, he has been hospitalized and sustained various injuries that will require surgeries and rehabilitation.  He spends much time making sure that others experience the “magic of Christmas”, however, his grandson is awaiting his recovery so that they can celebrate as a family.  Bill always puts others ahead of himself.

Bill, a Navy Veteran, is the current President of the American Legion Riders in Elmont. Giving back to the veteran community has always been a priority for Bill. Whether it is supporting our current military members, veterans, Gold Star or Blue Star families, Bill is always there. He leads the riders in paying final honors to our fallen military and veterans at their funerals. Under his leadership, The American Legion Riders have been very active in the riding community attending fundraisers for numerous other clubs/organizations in support of those in need: breast cancer, children’scancer research, toy run, turkey run and other needs of the community.  The fruits of his leadership have spread throughout the community, in many directions.

As he is the President of the American Legion Riders in Elmont, we are pulling together to help Bill recover his strength and well-being as quickly as possible so that we can continue to be a strong force in the community.  There are many expenses that are incurring at this time in the recovery process such as medical bill co-payments and deductibles.  As Bill works through the challenges to get back to speed, he will not be physically able to perform the routines of his job during recovery and rehabilitation.  This is an opportunity to pay forward things in your life that a “Bill” has done by helping someone who has devoted his life to helping others.
