Bill Richey's Recovery
Billy is a grandpa, dad, son, brother, uncle, friend, and life of the party. I am lucky enough to have him as an uncle and for as long as I can remember he’s always been the funniest guy in the room.
On May 20th Billy had a heart attack followed by two small strokes. Because of an undiagnosed hypertension issue he had to be hospitalized for two weeks before having a quintuple by-pass surgery. The surgery unlodged a plaque that caused a major stroke that resulted in 29 days in rehab. Since he has been released he has been in the care of his daughters, my cousins, Bree and Amanda. His care has been a lot more than was expected and has been more work than Bree and Amanda can juggle while maintaining their jobs and taking care of their families.
Billy is working hard to regain his strength both mentally and physically. He currently needs help with all daily tasks which causes frustration. Significant progress has been made over the last two months, but he is still very confused, particularly at night. The path forward is long as he fights for both his mind and body.
He needs around-the-clock care to ensure he doesn’t fall and to help with everyday activities. He is waiting to be approved for 40 hours a week of care through Medicaid - which will likely takes months for approval - but that still leaves 128 hours a week that he needs help.
If you can donate anything to help contribute to his care it would mean the world to our family and help Billy and his daughters have one less thing to worry about.
