On Monday Dec 18, Bill and Karen Miller found out some devastating news possible. Bill had been diagnosed with esophagus cancer and it has spread to Bill's liver. It is all over his liver! His liver isn't functioning properly. The Doctors have found cancer in his lymph noids, and are also enlarged. There is a few spots of cancer on his lungs and a cancer spot on his brain. He is now in stage four cancer.
Bill has been losing weight very rapidly and he is very weak. He hasn't been able to eat solid foods for days because he can't keep it down with vomiting.
Surgical Operations are out of the question at this point because the caners is spreading at a rapid pace. They are now looking to chemotherapy as a way to buy Bill some time. His first chemo was on Wednesday December 20th, of this week and the treatment took over 4 hours. If the chemotherapy works and Bill is able to put on some weight. the Doctors are saying he will have 6 months to a year to live. and that's the best case scenioro and realistically It will be more on the six months end as the doctor sees it now. If he isn't responsive to the chemo or if it doesn't have much of an effect and he can't gain weight, he only has a few months left to live.
The Miller family is very emotionally upset and having a difficult time trying to process all this news, as well as becoming overwhelmed as the medical bills come pouring in. Neither Bill or Karen have worked full time since August, and their finances are becoming strained. They have just started Chemo and don't know how they are going to keep up with their montly obligations as well as the huge medical bills. They do have health insurance, but as most of us know the first of the year brings a brand new set of deductibles, co pays, and out of pocket expenses.
They need our help not only emoitionally, but especially financially. Your generoustiy would be especially appreciated during thid Christmas Season, but in the days ahead. Please give generously to help sease the burden of this devastating news.
Have a blessed Holiday and please keep Bill, Karen, Ryan, Justin, and Brandon in all of your prayers.
