This past June Bill was diagnosed with advanced Esophageal Cancer. Doctors at Moffitt Cancer Center have recommended both radiation and chemotherapy with the eventual removal of his entire esophagus.  In July he underwent procedures to install a power port for the chemotherapy and a feeding tube as it has become increasingly difficult for him to swallow. This requires constant liquid nutrition through the tube and in home nurse care.

Bill and Cindy live off Bill's disability and Cindy's hourly wage as a optician where she rarely gets more than 36 hours a week. Their expected out of pocket contribution is  $10,000 a year. On top of that Cindy will have to continue to take time off to transport Bill to his appointments. Every appointment seems to come with a copayment of $300-400 each. It starts to add up fast.

Bill and Cindy also assist in the care of Cindy's mother who suffered from a stroke last year as well as helping provide school clothes and supplies for their grandson.  

Why do we tell you all this? Bill and Cindy are great people who have been devastated by this news and money is hard to come by and paying the deductibles and copayments could end up meaning choosing between buying food, paying the mortgage, or getting the next medical treatment.  Any help is greatly appreciated by everyone in the Jolin family as we all prepare for this daunting and very scary upcoming months as Bill begins to fight for his life.
