We received the sad news that Bill passed away yesterday after his long battle with pancreatic cancer. He will be missed and never forgotten by his family, his students and the aviation community. His contributions to aviation will be remembered by all. For those of us who were lucky enough to be Bill’s students, we will morn him but never forget him, he made us all better pilots. Bill was a wealth of experience and knowledge and it was an honor to fly with, and be taught by him. With his stern calm demeanor and high standards- you knew if Bill was ever hard on you, that he was doing it because he cared and wanted to give you the skills that would help save your life in an aircraft. Bills legacy will live on at Kansas State University Polytechnic through “The Bill Gross Private Pilot Program” and through the thousands of pilots he produced throughout the aviation industry. What a magnificent career and lasting legacy, I am truly grateful he was one of my mentors. Out of respect for his family we decided we will be leaving his Go Fund Me page up and changing the medical fund into a memorial fund. We will not be doing anymore updates- all donations will go directly into his family’s account that Bill had set up for this fund. Bill’s Wife and Children wanted us to express their gratitude for everyone’s donations and prayers. Will will post the details of his funeral as we received them. In case you did not see this page before- This was originally the Go Fund Me for Bill Gross Medical Treatments some that were costing his family upwards of $10,000 weekly, out of pocket. His insurance was not covering the chemotherapy and other treatments he was receiving, so we offered to start a Go Fund Me page for Bill and his family. At which time we did to help Bill and his family with some of the exorbitant medical expenses they were paying out. Bill has now unfortunately passed and so we changed the fund name to Bill Gross memorial fund- to help his family with all the expenses they have been paying out and now the family has started a scholarship fund for pilots to continue Bill’s legacy.
