Memorial Fund for Billy D

Hi, my name is Jodi, daughter of Bill.

Our dad was a fun loving, hard working, independent man. He was a musician who loved teaching us and his grandkids about music. And he was a giving man who was always there for anyone who needed help.

In April 2023, Dad was diagnosed with stage 3 lung cancer. He began chemo in June and had surgery in September 2023. Surgery discovered the cancer had been more in his lymph nodes than originally thought. In October he began radiation treatments. Radiation proved very hard on him and the ugly nasty side of cancer exposed itself.

On November 27th, 2023 Dad was taken to the hospital and told he had the flu and double lung pneumonia. He went home after 3 days.

On December 18th, he went back into the hospital until December 23rd. During this stay they discovered a mass on his kidney and his spine. He was home for a little bit but returned to the hospital on January 3rd. He kept getting dehydrated and it was this final hospital stay when he was advised the cancer had metastasized and was aggressive. Prior to this news, Dad had already decided that he would not do any further treatment. This news was devastating but my Dad was in a lot of pain and decided he was ready for hospice care.

He entered hospice care on January 5. We did not expect him to decline so quickly and on January 12 he passed away.

We are starting this fund because our Dad had no life insurance. Also they have no savings or retirement investments. Monies raised will help with any medical bills received, the funeral cost and should we raise anything over that, the money would go to our mom for any unforeseen expenses.
