Where to start...
We have known Bill and Liz for 25 years, since returning to Pontiac Illinois. We frequented their restaurant, Vannover's Family Restaurant in Pontiac for years as Liz served tables, Bill cooked and ran the books, and we ate and sold him his first computer. We really didn't know them well, but could tell they were "good people". It's kind of like that feeling you get in the pit of your stomach when someone makes you uncomfortable only in a good way when they greet you with a smile and ask how things are going. Fast forward many years later, and we are growing as a company and need someone with Integrity, Honesty, Caring, Fairness, Firmness, and most of all someone to look out for ATR, our People, Family and Business. Enters Liz, what a great addition to our team! It took us a while as she had started battling in her fight with Cancer and didn't want to place any burden on us.... What do you say to that except Please? we really need you! Once on-boarded we knew we hit a home run! As a professional she elevated our entire ATR family to new heights!
We grew to know her and Bill better as the years passed and even have and continue to work with some of their children. We learned there were many similarities between them and us, like we all started our families early in life ( probably while some said, "it will never last" or "they are so young") but little did they know it would last, they would have a great family, raise their kids to become great adults and never ask for anything in return, just to allow things to "work themselves out". Good things can happen to good people, but sometimes we just need to give a little helping hand to push that along.
As Liz continues her battle, Bill continues to give 100% toward life, family, and make the tough but easy choice to be there when needed leaving a void in his professional career and income while they fight together. With their blessing, we are writing asking for your help! this multi year battle continues on and although the financial impact continues to mount and climb the good news is We CAN AND WILL help them during these difficult times. Please join us in helping Bill and Liz to be able to provide for their wellness, care, and family while they continue fighting for the most important thing in life, Liz's return to health and her family. We put a goal of $25,000 but the reality is, that doesn't even really dent the needs.... Barb and I, enabled by ATR's success and Liz contributions to that success, we will match dollar for dollar everything raised.
I know there are probably a million of these go fund me things out there, from send me to summer camp, to buy me a car, to help us out BUT this is an opportunity for us to make a contribution to something larger than us. ANYTHING will help, please consider helping us help them with the good fight!
