Bill and Joann Brown Medical Relief
Donation protected
Bill and Joann Brown were involved in a very serious car accident on October 13, 2016 in Shawnee Oklahoma. They were taken to separate hospitals in Oklahoma City due to the severity of injuries and their specific medical conditions. Their beloved dog Aurie was traveling with them and was injured as well he was transported to the Shawnee Animal Hospital in Shawnee.
Joann was taken to St Anthony Hospital and treated for a concussion, puncture to the forehead, multiple contusions and lacerations over her body. She was released from the ER that evening. Her daughters are concerned for her back and knee issues resulting from the accident. Continued medical care will be needed in order to get her to the point that she can sit and stand on her own.
Bill was taken to the Oklahoma University Medical Center. He has a brain bleed, fractured neck, fractured nose, fractured cheekbones, and 4 fractured ribs. He is currently in ICU being monitored by the trauma, neurology, cardiology departments. Treatment plans are influx at this time awaiting his bleeding, neuro and heart conditions to stabilize before he can move him from ICU Cardio floor to the trauma floor for continued treatment. The plan is after the trauma floor for him to move to a rehabilitation center for the neck fracture.
Aurie was transported to the Shawnee Animal Hospital in shock and underwent an emergency surgery to his abdomen. Paramedics and responders have commented that at the accident scene Aurie was watching over our parents despite his own injuries. Aurie is still at the veterinary hospital undergoing observation.
Being a retired couple on a very fixed income the medical expenses for the three (Aurie included) are going to be a major financial hurdle for them. We are hoping that with the help of family and friends we can eliminate this burden for them so they can concentrate on healing.
