Bilingual Primary School Madrid opportunity

Please help us ...... We are a pioneering state-funded primary school in the heart of Brighton and Hove where children learn through English and Spanish every day. Our unique admissions arrangements enable children from across the city to join our school, regardless of how close they live. We have children from English speaking homes, Spanish speaking homes and homes where other languages are spoken - over 30 languages are currently spoken by families in our community!

All children are welcome here to learn across our broad, balanced curriculum which covers the content of the national curriculum with some content taught through each language. Children thrive in our innovative programme, developing global citizenship, enquiring minds and language skills.

We have been successful in securing a grant from the Turing scheme to enable all of our Year 6 children to fly to Madrid to visit our partnership school in Coslada. This is something we have been dreaming of doing since the school opened in 2012. However, unfortunately the funding will only go so far. As an inclusive school, we want to ensure we are able to offer this amazing opportunity to all of our children in the year group – not just a select few! Therefore, we are doing whatever we can to raise money to ensure everyone has the opportunity to go.

Staff members are running Marathons and Ultra marathons, 10k's and other races; children in the school are organising fundraising events and will be part of the Brighton marathon weekend running the children's mini mile and parents are getting together to come up with a variety of ways of making this amazing trip happen.

Whilst we are there, we will be meeting our penpals at the school in Coslada and experience a day in their life. As well as this, we are hoping to enjoy the local area in Madrid and practise our Spanish speaking skills in local markets and on public transport.

Our children love learning in spanish and this is an amazing opportunity for them to become fully immersive in the language and culture.
