Bilbo Baggin's Last Day

I rescued Bilbo Baggins when he was 3 years old from a circus.  He was lame and starving.  When I first brought him home, I promised him he had a forever home. Thus began an amazing 17 years of us rescuing each other. 

Bilbo became healthy, and then I broke him to the cart, and he loved his job.  He misses it now.  He has done everything for me from performed at shows to visiting a retirement home.  He comforted me when I lost my mother, and traveled with me when I got a divorce.  He is the bravest, sweetest horse that I have ever had the privilege to work with.  

Well, here we are.  Bilbo has Cushings.  it's is kind of like diabetes.  But it makes him hurt.  He has suffered with founder for a year and a half.  Right now Bilbo can hardly walk.  I have been treating him, but he is getting worse.  He needs to be free of his pain.  I need to take that final step that all lovers of animals need to make. 

I did some price checking today.  To rent a small backhoe  to dig a grave, is about $350. To have him euthanized will be about $170. I could do this in 6 weeks.  But he needs to go sooner.  Please help him take his last steps in the next two weeks. 

I would be so very grateful for any help you could give Bilbo.  Anything would really, really help.
