Biking For BLM

Tomorrow I will be leaving on a bike ride from the western coast of Washington to my home in Boulder, CO. At first I planned on doing this ride to raise awareness about carbon emissions. However, as the murder of George Floyd ignited a movement around racial justice, I began to see what I should have from the beginning: my white privilege is what has put me in a position where I even have the ability to bike halfway across the country. I don't have to fear for my life every time a police car passes me or when I go to the store. And I have the economic freedom to not work for a month and just bike while still affording food and basic necessities.

I am also acknowledging that I will be riding through land that was stolen. My route takes me through the traditional lands of the Entiat, Chelan, Methow, Okanogan, Wenatchi, Nespelem, Coville, Kalispel, Salish, Shoshone, Crow, Cheyenne, and Arapaho tribes.

This is why I'm asking you to help me by sponsoring my trip, 1$ for every mile that I ride to donate to the ACLU. I chose the ACLU because they help protect the liberties of both black and native people, as well as every other group that is affected by racism.

More information about ACLU Foundation: For nearly 100 years, the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) has been our nation's guardian of liberty, working in courts, legislatures, and communities to defend and preserve the individual rights and liberties that the Constitution and the laws of the United States guarantee everyone in this country.
