Biking for Bees and Babies!
Donation protected
Welcome to Buddy and Buddy go on a bike trip! We're Brielle and Liv and over the course of the pandemic we brainstormed an idea for an epic adventure this spring in the form of a bicycle trip! It seemed like something safe to do during the pandemic and a fun/challenging experience for the two of us to do together.
In the course of chatting and planning, we decided to try and raise some money while we're riding to give to two charities whose missions we feel strongly about and we feel are doing important work for our communities and environment. In this way, we put a little bit more meaning behind the trip as a whole.
We'll be riding from San Francisco, CA to Salt Lake City, UT starting May 1st with the goal of arriving in SLC by the 20th at the latest! It's about 860 miles of riding so we're going to be bold and aim to raise about 5$/mile of biking. The funds will be split between two projects: The Bee Conservancy and Feed the Children: USA.
A little note on The Bee Conservancy from their website:
"Bees lie at the heart of our survival. They pollinate 1 in 3 bites of food we eat and are essential to the health and prosperity of countless ecosystems.
Please read more on the work they're doing at https://thebeeconservancy.org/
And a note on Feed the Children from their site as well:
"Since our founding in 1979, Feed the Children remains one of the leading charities in the U.S. dedicated to ending childhood hunger both at home and abroad. Though we focus most urgently on feeding hungry children, the scope of our work has expanded to helping their families and communities achieve more stable lives to reduce the need for hunger relief tomorrow.

"Bees lie at the heart of our survival. They pollinate 1 in 3 bites of food we eat and are essential to the health and prosperity of countless ecosystems.
However, bees are in peril. According to the Center for Biological Diversity, more than half of North America’s 4,000 native bee species are in decline, with 1 in 4 species at risk of extinction.
The Bee Conservancy is a nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting bees, safeguarding the environment, and securing food justice through education, research, habitat creation, and advocacy. We strive towards a day when all bee populations thrive in protected habitats, and are supported by an engaged global network."

We have continued to explore ways to expand access to food for the children and families in the United States who need it the most. Our five distribution centers across the country serve as hubs for dispersing relief and resources to communities in all 50 states as we deliver supplies to our community partners in cities, towns and rural areas. In 2019, our programs provided 68.6 million pounds of shelf-stable food and essential household items valued at $238.4 million to supplement family needs and offer hope to approximately 4.7 million people across the nation."

We recognize that this past year has been trying for everyone so we're really grateful to you all for stopping by and giving whatever you can to the fundraiser or sharing the page with others. If you want to follow along on the ride, you can find us on instagram @brihellogoodbye where we'll be sharing progress reports, pretty pictures, and hopefully bringing a smile or two.
Thanks again!
Spread love, y'all.
