Bikes for PrimeAbility program @Dunbar High School

Donation protected

Since the pandemic began in early March, District of Columbia public schools have moved to virtual learning and it was announced last week that we will continue this model at least until mid November. However, this has not been an effective model for every student and has really caused students to lose hope and interest in their education. Even worse, the rate of gun violence and teen crime has skyrocketed in the city since students have been home from school. Our students need an outlet that is fun, structured and innovative. That is why I am starting a socially distant biking club for students at my school who need a safe space to be physically active in a structured environment.

I am asking for your donation today to support  in helping us reach our goal of 30 bikes for our PE program. We will use the bikes for lessons, tours of the city, and other fun activities that we cannot currently do with schools closed.  These bikes will provide students with the experience of being around their peers in a socially distant atmosphere where they can be fit, productive and simply enjoy being in a physical education classroom setting again.

We greatly appreciate your donation, and it will be used to help high school students from underprivileged communities participate in a biking program that will change their lives in such an unprecedented time.
