Biker accident - mobility & monthly bills help needed
Donation protected

Hi.
My name is Louise aka Pixielou_rides on instagram and I passed my full bike lisence in September 2024.
I live with my partner, our puppy and 2 cats in a semi detached house in Glasgow that we bought last year as first time buyers.
I've never been rich or well off but I've always worked hard and fought to get out of debt and felt fortunate to be able to live paycheck to paycheck.
On our way home from the West Coast Harley Davidson bike night on the 31st of July, on the M8 East bound, my partner and I collided at 65mph on our seperate bikes which resulted in me coming off my Honda CL500 in the middle lane and being thrown into the central reservation.
My bike is totalled. My other halfs survived thankfully and with his 30+ years of riding experience, he managed to stay upright (thank God, I have no idea what I'd have done if he was injured too).
I've been in the Queen Elizabeth Hospital since then in the major trauma ward and can't really remember much of the first 5 days apart from coming in as a tier 3 trauma.
I've had 4 surgeries so far and a couple more to come.
The result of the accident was being left with extensive soft tissue damage to my lower right leg and right foot and extensive damage to my left hand.
My leg will forever look like a shark has taken a snack chomp out of it and that's going to take some mental adjustment. They call it a concave defect.
I've had multiple surgeries on my lower leg including skin grafts and a BTM to help reconstruct my leg which was a leap of faith by the surgeons to save.....I was looking at the possibility of amputation.
Thanks to the hard work of the NHS and surgeons, they saved my leg (so far) but I have a very long road to recovery ahead of me.
I have multiple fractures and ligament damage across the top of my right foot and multiple fractures in my toes.
My right hand now has k wires in multiple fingers.
I work full time as a manager for a customer service outsourcer and I love my job but I'm unfortunately on probation meaning that I've not yet earned company sick pay.
My company are amazing but there is only so much that they can do and as of the 15th of August, I am on unpaid sick leave which leaves me on statutory sick pay from the government at £118.75 after my 3 waiting days with no pay.
In regards to my recovery time, I'm looking at another period in hospital and then 6-12 months recovery at home on crutches and walking frames with support to walk again from various therapies and surgeons.
I will have to live on one floor of my home for several months and will be housebound until I can do stairs.
There will be further surgeries down the line to try improving how my leg looks and I won't be driving anytime soon.
This accident has removed my independence, my ability to walk, wash myself, take care of toilet hygiene, dress myself and I'm pretty sure that my dignity is still on the side of the M8 somewhere.
My partner is working tirelessly to support me in hospital and will be my primary carer when I'm home to recover.
In the mean time, my bills will rack up.
My monthly outgoings for my share of the home are £1050 per month to cover my mortgage, fuel costs, car insurance (partner using the car as transport), pet food and medicine for Loki (cat), council tax, contracted phone bill, house insurance, pet insurance etc.
Additionally, we will need to adapt the house I.e we currently have a step over bath to shower which I now can't use, the toilet is too close to the wall for any equipment or rails so will need moved, the front door step to the house will need a ramp, I will need to purchase or hire a wheelchair and purchase a single bed to put in the livingroom.
I have no savings.
No emergency fund.
No life insurance to cover illness due to a pre existing heart condition.
My partner can only cover so much and that brought me to here, doing something I'd never normally do, asking strangers on the Internet to help tide me over for a few months until I can get back on my feet.
I don't think this will come to anything and I have no idea how it all works but I'm out of ideas.
Any monies donated will be put towards monthly bills and carrying out works to our home so that I can live slightly easier as our home is not set out for having mobility issues.
Hopefully I can also get a second hand wheelchair to get out of the house.
