J.P. Wanderwheels was started by Pete and Jim out of a shared love for bikepacking and a desire to help more people experience the outdoors. After organizing beginner-friendly bikepacking trips and handling all the details for newcomers, they saw firsthand how intimidating it can be to get started—especially when it comes to having the right gear. Inspired by Bikepacking Roots' successful gear libraries in other communities, Pete and Jim decided to bring the same idea to their own area, partnering with Lake Orion Bike & Adventure, a new shop dedicated to helping people discover new adventures.

One of the biggest barriers for people interested in bikepacking is access to gear. Not everyone wants to invest in specialized equipment they might only use once, and most people don’t have the ideal setup just lying around. That’s where the gear library comes in. With your support, J.P. Wanderwheels will be able to offer tents, sleeping bags or quilts, sleeping pads, camp pillows, and bags for carrying gear. People will be able to check out just what they need—whether it’s a single item or a full kit—making it possible for more people to try bikepacking without a big upfront investment.

We believe that bikepacking is a wonderful way to experience nature, build connections, and create lasting memories.
