Bike Ride for Broadie

Donation protected
Team Broadie is a fundraising group made up of the friends and family of Mark Broadhurst.  We organised a bike ride that took place on Saturday 22nd August on “Route 55” the middlewood way all the way back to Heaton Moor (50 miles) to raise money. Other activities include an exclusive comedy event with Justin Moorhouse, 10k runs and fashion nights. All activities are aimed to help Mark with the biggest fight of his life.  Mark is 49, dad to 3 young children age 6, 11 and 13 and husband to Claire his partner of over 30 years.

Mark describes the 8th July as "hand on heart" the worst day of his life.  This was the day that he found out he had stage 4 pancreatic cancer. Following his CT scan the doctors used words like "inoperable" and "palliative"......not words found in the Broadie dictionary! They obviously did not know they were dealing with Mark Broadhurst.

Since that day Mark and Claire have researched endlessly leaving no stone unturned.  They have travelled across the country to meet with experts, sent scans off to America for second opinions, started complex diet plans and sorted out various alternative therapies to run along side the standard cancer treatment.  It is fair to say that they have embarked on their toughest fight yet.

It is at this point that we are asking friends, family, customers and clients to play a vital role in this fight against cancer.  Both Mark and Claire are self employed who have recently had to absorb the impact of COVID-19. Just as lock down was easing, enabling them to get back up on their feet, this juggernaut of a diagnosis hit them.

Team Broadie would like to give it our best shot at raising funds for the Broadhurst family.  The funds will give them the opportunity to access treatments only available privately, provide respite during the gruelling treatment path ahead and enable the very best mental wellbeing for the whole family.

Mark will take care of the fortitude and strength to get him through the next few months and the we will try to focus on raising funds to support this beautiful family through a traumatic time.  Therefore it is crucial that we get the funds flowing as soon as possible to alleviate any financial burden the family is facing.

If you are lucky enough to know Mark, Claire or their children and share their friendship now is the time to try to help and show your support.  If you don't know them personally but are touched by their plight we can't thank you enough for showing your support.

The money raised or donated will be presented to the family to do with as they wish, be it paying for treatment, weekends away or simply day to day living.  Hopefully we can play a part in taking away some of the stress with financial help.  We know these are tough times for everybody but if you do have the means to help that would be greatly appreciated.
