Bike 4 Bry - A DNECL journey…

Many of you reading this will know Bry and his story… we are here to support him and his family after learning the devastating news that Bry’s rare form of cancer will unfortunately not be cured and whilst this means that his life will be limited, he is determined to build everlasting memories for himself, his family and friends.

For the last few years Bry has shown the most resilience, grit and determination that many of his teammates and opponents on a cricket field saw on a weekly basis when he stepped over that white line. He is a real fighter and is not ready to give up that fight any time soon.

With a devastating diagnosis that Bry received a few months ago, it brings out a new desire to keep going. It also brings its own challenges from many different perspectives, mental wellbeing and well as physical but also financial. This is why we are here to support him and his family.

A group of dedicated cricketers lead by Chris Errington take on an annual cycling challenge to raise money for great causes and this year, they have chosen to raise money to support Bry for the inevitable costs that are coming for him and his family, to help them make memories and support Lauren and his two children, Theo and Willow.

The “Bike 4 Bry” squad will be taking on the challenge of cycling around and visiting every “Durham & North East Cricket League” ground in homage to Bry and are raising these funds to help and support his family.

Over the August Bank Holiday weekend, across 2 days, the core team will be cycling around 35 grounds in the North East (from Bill Quay CC to Evenwood CC) covering all grounds in the DNECL as stops over a journey that will last circa 150 miles (65 miles on day 1 and 85 miles on day 2).

Other cyclists will be joining them for various parts of the route and they are actively looking for more volunteer cyclists to join them even for a leg between grounds (Reach out to the dedicated Facebook page for more details).
