Lt. Shaun Jones hasn't been with the Middleburg Police Department for very long, but to many locals, it feels like he's been part of the community forever. To his friends and family, and even strangers who encounter him, Shaun is a brave law enforcement officer, a kind friend, a generous volunteer, a loving father and husband, and a great man.

Recently, Shaun and his family got some tough news. After visiting his doctor to check in on some chest pains, Shaun was diagnosed with Lymphoma. As devastating as this news was, Shaun isn't one to back down from a challenge so he got ready to fight it head on. After powering through through several treatments, he went in for a scan and got the heartbreaking news that they had been treating the wrong kind of lymphoma and that the cancer had continued to spread, requiring more aggressive treatment. The fight is not over and there is a long way to go.

As rough as the past months and the months to come are on Shaun himself, it is also an incredibly difficult time for his family. Aside from the emotional, mental, and physical stress, there is a financial burden associated with caring for a loved one who is going through this, including:

It all adds up quickly. We're hoping to help support Shaun's family by offsetting some of these costs and try to lessen at least the financial stress of his illness. Shaun is also incredibly generous with his time and efforts towards charities and volunteer events, so any excess funds will give him the opportunity to pay it forward and help support some great causes while he's unable to participate.

In the short time we've known him, Shaun has made a big impact on many in our community. Many of our local businesses are on a first name basis with Shaun. My wife looks forward to his stops by our shop where they drink coffee and catch up on the "goings on" around town. The town staff always enjoys seeing him pop in to the town office to check on things. He is consistently involved in volunteer and charitable events not just in his home community, but ours as well. It's hard to quantify what Shaun has done for everyone in his life, but this is our chance to give back to him and his family in this challenging time.

Big Shaun is fighting hard, and I know he appreciates all the love and support from everyone in his life. Times are tough for a lot of people out there, but anything you are able to contribute will be much appreciated.
