Our sweet Channing Mizer is only 22 years old, and our family has just received the most unexpected and heartbreaking news. Channing has been diagnosed with Stage 3 squamous cell carcinoma of the tongue.

At just 22, she should be focused on building her future and celebrating newlywed life. Her wedding day was May 16th — a day filled with love and dreams for what was ahead. Instead, those plans are now on hold as she prepares for the fight of her life.

Her major surgery is scheduled for February 19th. She will undergo an extensive operation that includes reconstructive facial surgery. After that, she will face chemotherapy and radiation treatments. She will also need to rely on a feeding tube for several months as she heals and begins recovery.

This diagnosis has completely blindsided our family. Nothing prepares you to hear the C word , especially when it’s your 22-year-old sister, daughter, and friend.

While insurance will help, it can only cover so much. The medical expenses, reconstruction, treatments, recovery care, and time away from work are already adding up quickly. We are asking for help to ease the financial burden so Channing can focus fully on healing and fighting.
