Big River, Small Boat

I am planning to conquer the Clarence River in Northern NSW by sailing and paddling the entire four hundred kilometres. Picture me, sailing in a tiny yellow Mirror dinghy on one of the largest rivers in Australia, kayaking through white water rapids and sleeping in a little boat tent. This is going to be a huge challenge and requires a lot of preparation.

My goal is to raise four-thousand dollars for Headspace, who provide free mental health support services and conselling to young people across the Northern Sydney region.  This campaign aims to bring awareness to our community about the facilities at Headspace and how how they could help friends and family in need. The money I raise will go towards developing and running an inagural program introducing teens struggling with their mental health to the benefits of sailing and other water sports.

Here on the Northern beaches youth suicide has touched so many families including ours. I believe getting teens out on the water could make all the difference to someone in the depths of depression.  There’s just something special about getting outdoors and mucking around on boats.
