Let me tell you about my best friend and brother John Rampersaud...
Some of us know him as Big John, Gentle Giant, The Art Teacher, Hulk, an artist, but to us he is family, our brother, and friend. John is the youngest of three brothers. He values family highly. John has a strong background in art and loves comic books. He has a passion for technology and helping others. In the past year, he received his security plus certifications from Cisco and is looking to transition into IT security. John currently is a Special Educator, who works with at risk youths with Emotional Disabilities. I've seen first hand how hard he works as a teacher. This profession can be very stressful. He educates and is a positive role model for the youth, who doesn’t have anyone like that in his or her lives. He has a heart of gold and will take the shirt off his back to help another person in need.
John has a degenerative heart. He has been in and out of the hospital, especially the emergency room and is now in intensive care unit since last year. His heart is failing and it is forcing his organs to fail because there is not enough oxygenated blood going to them. Unfortunately, he spent his birthday in the hospital on September 20, 2016. We finally have progress. He is starting to have color in his skin again. His skin felt warm while earlier in the week it felt cold as if you were touching metal. He is finally able to eat. Two days later he started to have chest and stomach pains again to the point where he was unable to stand. He was scheduled to have LVAD surgery done on Sunday, September 25, 2016 but it was canceled because his heart rate was over 150 BPM. The doctors had to do an emergency surgery on him to oxygenate the blood that helps his organs and to help lower the heart rate. Currently, John has an infection in his kidney and they are treating it with antibiotics and dialysis. His current doctor acknowledged that his previous doctor failed to address his heart condition and treat it based on the test results from two years ago. John has been in and out of work over the last two years and most recently on medical leave since August 2016 where he is not able to neither drive or work.
Now, my friends we need your help…
John needs to go through a vast amount of treatment, surgeries, and rehab when this is all over.
Unfortunately John didn't make it and passed away October 4, 2016. As his bills continued to increase, I decided to start this campaign to help raise money to help pay off bills, medical expenses (co-pays and deductibles are exceeding in the thousands already,) and now legal counsel for malpractice.
We are asking family, friends, and the public to help donate to help John and his family even if it's $1, anything to help would be appreciated.
Thank you,
Linn Kanon and the Rampersaud family
