Since its founding in 2021, Black in Gerontology and Geriatrics (BIGG) has made it possible for students and early-career scholars to attend the Gerontological Society of America (GSA) Annual Conference—a life-changing opportunity to build vital professional networks, present their research, connect with mentors, and lend voices in shaping the future of aging research, teaching and practice. To date, we have awarded more than 30 travel fellowships to emerging scholars.

This year, however, we cannot continue this important tradition without your help. While our travel fellows are passionate about creating a more age-inclusive society, the costs of conference attendance (i.e., membership fees, registration, travel, housing, and meals) add up quickly and are often out of reach without support. We need your support to send BIGG travel fellows to Boston for the 2025 GSA annual conference.

Your donation will directly fund student travel, research, and professional development. Every dollar you give helps a student take one step closer to presenting their work, building scholarly networks, and launching a career dedicated to improving the lives of older adults.

Estimated student costs for the 2025 GSA Annual Meeting in Boston, MA:

• GSA student membership: $99

• Preconference registration: $40

• Conference registration: $215

• Airfare/transportation: $500

• Hotel/shared housing: $200 per night

• Meals: $80 per day

Our target is to send 15 students to GSA by covering their transportation, accommodation, meals, registration, etc. Will you help us send them to Boston this year? Thank you!
