Big Ed's Cancer Surgery

On September 26th, my dad was unexpectedly admitted into Orange Regional Medical Center after having a CT scan for purposes of finding appendicitis. The doctors were almost 100% positive that his appendix was the cause of all his abdominal pains. Unfortuneately, during his CT scan they had found a large mass in his chest, by his heart and his appendix was normal.

My dad was hospitalized for 48 hours because the mass is pushing on his heart. They had him on a heart monitor for the entire stay to monitor his heart and they sent him for a bunch of testing (biopsy and echocardiogram). Thankfully, his heart seems to be okay.

We had found out the results of the biopsy on October 4th, 2017. My dad was diagnosed with thymoma cancer. They had also found another small nodule in his left lung. His doctor was to send my dad in for a big surgery to remove the large mass in his chest and the small nodule as soon as possible. They will biopsy the small nodule to see if this is related to the thymoma, primary lung cancer, or something completely different.

Normally, my family and I never ask for help with things like this. My dad lost his insurance when he lost his job a few years ago and he could not afford Obama Care. He is the only income that is coming into the household and these medical bills are going to be horrendous. We have tried to apply for Medicaid, but my dad just misses the income limit to be eligable for it. I have called Social Services to see what else I could do to help with the financials. They tell me there is nothing else we can do.

I am working and my siblings are working as well. But, once my dad goes in for surgery, we will have to pay all the bills in the household (car insurance, electric bills, food, mortgage, etc), let alone the financials for his medical bills.

If you donate, I reassure you that it will be for a great cause and you will be the biggest help. The donations will go towards my dads medical bills, including his surgery because he has absolutely no insurance to help. And I hope that one day, my family and I will be able to return the help to everybody who has donated for my father. Thank you so much to everyone who donates, my family and I appreciate it so much.

God bless everyone with love.
