HELP BIGBOY GET TO THE NT

Bigboy is a young, light skinned, First Nations SW who needs community support to raise funds to purchase a car, as I have just received an eviction notice due to the 2022 Flood Buy Back Scheme in Lismore. This funding will be going to purchasing a car, in which I will be residing in for at least six months, as well as funds to get on country in the top end to assist in finding my mob and leaving FSSW. Over the last 6 months, I have experienced threats and experiences of sexual violence nearly daily, resulting in a mental health crisis requiring me to get on country asap. Larrakia country has saved my life before, and I pray it will do it again. I have been booked to do Darwin Fringe Festival, and also the facilitation harm reductionist event management mentorship programs for queer, Blak youth. This is a last resort, as I have sought help through Lismore Base Hospital, and despite tireless efforts, have been told there are no beds available and as usual, fallen victim to the industrial medical complex. I have been experiencing non epileptic seizures multiple times a day, and flares with my endometriosis due to the stress of near constant threats and harassment and SA. I am fleeing a sex offender who has threatened to run over Carmichael, and also been told that there is nothing that NSWPOL can do for me.

This car will enable me to seek a Certificate of Aboriginality and find my mob with assistance offered to me by an Uncle, and engage with cultural and professional development in both the arts and SW activist sphere to support me to safely leave survival SW & the industry.

I am wanting to leave the sex industry after 8 years & have endured significant trauma within this industry. I’ve worked tirelessly as an activist to make the industry safer & mentored young sex workers & those entering the industry to understand their rights. I intend to continue this activism & advocacy work & intend to engage with training around this.
