Hello Everyone!

My name is Mia Božić and i'm currently directing a short film which follows Marin, an introverted teenage boy who visits his uncle's chaotic beachside hangout to collect a carton of eggs, only to be told he'll have to ask out his crush before anyone gives them to him.

As a third-generation Australian with all four grandparents born in Croatia, this story immortalises a generation of immigrants who are determined to preserve their traditions while navigating contemporary Australian society. It explores my dual cultural identities and the experience of belonging to both cultures.

My connection to my culture has always come through family traditions, food, and the eccentric characters I've grown up around. With every generation, this culture and the small oddities become lost.

Big Ol' Boys Club is a drama, embedded in humour, and inspired by the loud, and chaotic people and moments that make my heritage so unforgettable.
