Big Mike's Brain Surgery

August 30th, 2019 Mike had a siezure that lead to the discovery of a tumor on the left side of his brain. After a few days in the hospital running more test, he was sent home to lose some weight in order to have an MRI so we could get a better picture of the mass.
On February 11th, 2020 we had the MRI
MRI results:
Mass is closer to right side motor functions then speech. Mass didn't take contrast so that's good news. Hasn't changed much since CT scan. Still a low grade glioma
Surgery: March 3rd, 2020.
Should take about 4 hours. 2-6 week recovery. 2-3 day hospital stay best case. 5 days post op for results if any further treatment will be needed (radiation/chemo). He will be asleep. Dr will need to take a larger area of his bone due to her wanting to use a device on the surface of his brain that detects nerve functions during the surgery to help ensure that only the mass area is taken and not important functioning tissue. The area where the mass is they think consists of non-important grey matter and doesn't control anything major. But it is close so extra precautions are being taken.
Purpose of the surgery is not to control headaches or improve his quality of life at this point (non-emergency) but to help prevent future issues. Benign brain lesions/masses can turn into malignant tumors.
The Dr cannot guaranty that all the cells (microscopically) will be removed but she is confident that 70% can come out. She is aiming for 90%.
This GoFundMe will help us cover cost such as gas (the hospital is about an hour away from us), food while we're out, copays for the surgery and for follow up doctor's visits, and it will also help with some living expenses as he has been out of work since September and will be out of work so a few weeks (hopefully) after surgery.
