Big Kev’s funeral fundraiser
Donation protected
Sadly, on Wednesday 16th October at 3.45pm we lost Kevin at home after his ongoing battles with various health conditions.
Kevin was a well known and loved character around Rye who had a heart of gold and would go out of his way to help anyone.
Throughout his life Kevin would arrange many fundraisers. Kevin used to organise football matches, darts tournaments and cricket matches to help raise money for various local charities and teams.
Kevin would also on many occasions organise presentations for the local youth football teams, often putting himself out of pocket to benefit the local community.
Kevin was a local well known postman in the Rye area and would always go above and beyond to help his customers and would organise the postman’s outings to the dogs at Brighton.
In his later years, Kevin would often drive people around who needed a lift as he loved driving and found it a joy being able to help others, also regularly driving abroad to pick up tobacco for people, although he never smoked himself.
When Kev became ill and bed bound this had a profound effect on him having to give up his driving licence and independence.
Michelle was a nurse at the same as providing full time support for her husband which also in turn had a big impact on the family. Unfortunately, the situation also meant Michelle had to eventually give up her career as a nurse to focus on looking after Kev and her own health conditions.
Danny-Michelle and Kev’s son spent a lot of his time over the last few years helping his Mum to care for his Dad to make sure he was comfortable and had everything he needed. Often taking it in turns to stay with his Dad over night, in case he needed anything.
Also a big thank you to the girls at Dinarie- a local palliative care agency.
As far as we are now aware, Kev had two strokes which led to further ongoing health conditions , along with Parkinson’s.
We would be grateful for any donations, big or small to take the added pressure of finances off the family at this very sad time.
Thank you all for reading and thank you in advance for your generous donations.
