Big Joes big surgery
Donation protected
Hi everyone, my name is Ruth and I am Big Joes ‘Foster mum’. We have fostered Big Joe for roughly 8 months now and throughout this time his front legs have been causing him obvious pain and discomfort. I’ve been managing this with a wide range of supplements, anti-inflammatories and diet, until I had enough money saved for a CT scan, because despite the best care I could provide its clear that something needs to be done surgically. Unfortunately the results of the CT scan have shown multiple issues which are best addressed by surgical intervention. Issues listed on his radiology report include: bilateral elbow dysplasia with elbow joint incongruity, ununited anconeal process and medial coronoid process disease, degenerative joint disease (osteoarthrosis), extensor tendinopathy and marked increased synovial joint effusion.
Unfortunately, this news places us in a difficult position, we have already spent thousands on his CT scan and medical care, and the current estimate for surgery will be an additional $9,000-$11,000.
Getting this surgery for Joe is a no brainer for me, he’s already had such a rough start to life and deserves to live the rest of his days happy and as pain free as possible. Just as I saved for his CT scan, I will do everything in my power to get this money together for him. If you’ve been following Joe’s journey and it has touched you in any way, any contribution to his surgery or sharing of his gofundme would be immensely appreciated.
For those who don’t know his story, please see the video link below that my amazing friend Tania has created for Big Joe.
If we are lucky enough to exceed our target, the excess amount will be donated to a rescue.
All our love Ruth and Big Joe
