Big granny’s memory walk

Donation protected

On the 19th of April 2022 our granny/great granny passed away after a short but brave battle with Cancer. The aggressive Cancer caused her memory to deteriorate rapidly. My 7year old  said he wanted to do something in memory of big granny and to help other families (her nick name he gave gave her when he was peedie so he could figure out which grandparteners we were talking about.) We decided on a sponsored walk, starting at “Peedie” granny and grandads and walking up the kirbister road past where “big” granny grew up and along the road past the school she attended, and on to her and “big” grandads house.. a 6mile walk! We are raising funds for MacMillan and Alzheimer’s Scotland In hope the funds we raise will help support other families and one day find cures!
Big granny would be very proud of his efforts to help fundraise to help two very important charities, charities that are sadly close to a lot of folks in Orkney.
Big Granny herself was alway keen to help with charity fundraisers especially for diabetes UK where she did many of years helping raise funds, a charity that was close to her after her daughter got diagnosed with diabetes as a child.

We have planned to do the walk on Saturday the 2nd of July. Luke’s two little brothers will hopefully join us for the last part of the walk heading in the Road to big granny and grandads house.
