Zin came to us through the Husky House in Matawan, NJ on April 18,2020. He was only 9 weeks old. We also adopted his sister, Molly. At around 6 months old, we noticed Zin was walking and running differently. He would gallop instead of run. We also noticed that he couldn’t play as long as his sister and if he tried he wouldn’t be able to play for a few days afterwards.
Our vet had treated him with pain medicine, but kept saying it wasgrowing pains. Zin was 97 lbs by the time he was 8 months, so we believed her. About 4 weeks ago he was playing really hard at the dog park and he started limping really bad and cried in pain when hetried to climb the stairs. I went to a different vet where they took an X-ray and found he had Hip Dysplasia. Lorraine recommended DrScavelli with Garden State Veterinary Specialists. I just had a consult with him this morning. Zin has severe bilateral hip dysplasia and needs a double hip replacement. They can only do one at a time. Each hip replacement will cost between $9,000 and $10,000. Totaling$18,000-$20,000. As you can imagine, our hearts broke. This is an astronomical amount of money. But our baby boy is healthy otherwise and only 1 year old. He deserves to play and run and have an amazing quality of life, which after rehab, he may very well have. He can get back 93- 95% of his movement back. Please, if you can, please donate. If you can’t, please continue to share. My daughters, who are only 5 and 9 would like to send everyone who donates a picture they have drawn in order to help raise money for their pup. Please comment with your address below if you would like the pictures they have drawn! Thank you
